this creecher's little cabin is built into The Apparatus. You don't know what The Apparatus is for, but the creecher starts biting you if you look at The Apparatus's mechanisms a little too long. Fearing what the creecher's undoubtedly fearsome reaction would be if you touched The Apparatus, you decide to ignore The Apparatus while you visit.

The true purpose of the Apparatus is to store recipes, most of them shamelessly stolen from other people. A slot in the wall prints out a list of these, which the creature graciously allows you to take with hardly any biting.
