You ascend the wooden steps to enter the workshop of the scales and are greeted by hundreds of items, weighed and balanced in perfect harmony with one another.

There's no one watching — you could just take as much as you can carry and run — but that would destroy the harmony. You feel... Strangely compelled not to. You know that if you take, you will only do so after leaving something of equal value, and the balance will be preserved.
