Have questions about creecher biology, the setting that Dopcom takes place in, or what all of those food items actually taste like? This is the place to ask the developer, or speculate if there's no official answer!

how much devious brew can i drink before suffering from some variety of illness (that's a joke, but i do think itd be interesting to learn more about devious brew and what exactly it is/where it comes from..)

Who, or what, creates the furniture items that appear in the General Store? How advanced is society? For instance, both Oil Lamp and Electric Lamp exist, indicating that electricity must have been harnessed at some point (I think this is further supported by the Lightning Element Lump-Style Creecher, whose home environment looks like a town that has a streetlamp).

@rtay Periodically, ghosts show up in the town square. (This of course coincides with real-world Halloween celebrations, but Dopcom years are a different length from real-world ones, so our Halloween doesn't happen at the same time each Dopcom year.) Nobody currently knows where they come from or why they're here, but one thing that is clear is that they are very, very fond of pumpkins. They give out seeds in hopes that people will plant them and return the resulting crop to the Haunted Market. Perhaps the pumpkins are used as one of the ingredients in the Devious Brew...?

@JaneBuzJane Electricity exists, but it's not very well-studied. The electric lamp furniture is a summoned item, meaning that it runs off of lightning magic rather than, say, plugging into a wall or using batteries, and when I drew the streetlamp in that habitat I was thinking of it as being gas-powered. The furniture sold at the general store (the pots and clocks and rugs and such) is mass-produced; I think some of it is made in the city and some of it is imported from outside.

@EpiglottalAxolotl NEAT! Thank you! (They did look like gas streetlamps, they had that ~vibe~ so I was just curious :3c )

How does it work when new creecher species are introduced to dopcom (such as the ones you've been drawing on stream)? did those creechers already exist and people just found ways to channel specific energies to summon those eggs or are they entirely new discoveries that didn't exist prior?

@Clicktuck This is a little bit of ludonarrative dissonance, since lore-wise, wizards in the Town Square should be able to summon eggs of more than just the five species we have. However, you could also interpret it as the summoning circle becoming more powerful and able to summon eggs from further away, extending into more habitats.

When the Normal Eggs showed up during the april fools event, though, that was brand new and nobody had seen that creature before.

are the elemental growths/variants naturally occurring? like could a lump that hatched in the wild grow into the plant lump without wizard intervention? i suspect if they where naturally occurring which variant they'd be would depend a lot on environment and climate like they'd have to be in a wet place to grow into a water variant

@CloudyKatt Yeah, pretty much. Creechers out in the wild won't be able to gain as much essence as domesticated ones, though, because they have to make do with whatever ambient essences are available where they're living. It would depend on the weather, the seasons, and their diet, but also the effects of the weather would be stronger in the wild since they're exposed to the elements constantly. For example, a wild lump animal that grows up during a season where a lot of plants are growing and there's pollen or blossoms in the air would get a lot of wood essence from that, whereas a lump animal that lives indoors wouldn't be as strongly affected.

I noticed that prisms in this universe are functional, and I was thinking about the archons.
Prisms refract light into separate colors, but water droplets can be prisms.

Does this mean the archon of sun or archon of water ( or both?) ( or Someone Elseā„¢?) is responsible for giving light this property?

(I remember the original design for the sun stamp would have had a more prominent rainbow, until it was reduced to just the symbol border.
But rain is also in the word rainbow XD)

@Hypercube34 It's always funny (positive) when people bring up concepts in the forums that haven't been canonized yet.

For those of you in this thread who haven't heard some of the lore ideas that I've been brainstorming on my Twitch streams, I'm planning to add the Archons of various aspects as important NPCs who embody forces of nature. I wouldn't say the archons are responsible for giving properties to the laws of physics, but I would say that the idea of white light being broken into its constituent colors is very much a Sun-aligned concept.

It is in the nature of Sun to form a spectrum when interacting with certain materials, whether that material is water, or crystal, or glass. Also note that the physical substance of water isn't necessarily going to always be aligned to the aspect of water, since water can freeze or be a component of plantlife or blood.
