Although he lives in the meadow with others of his species, Tchan-Djosèf prefers to come out of his hole on rainy days. Being a land animal, he loves water and likes to try his hand at swimming sometimes.

Water is dangerous, yet it is also what protects him. Plants, which love him despite his inability to understand them except for their buzzing, warn him when rain is coming.
